Chronosong
Chronosong was written in collaboration with Margaux Bouchegnies, Juliana Braka, John Patterson, Maeve A’Hearn, and Em DeVincentis. Many thanks to Angela Carr for getting this group of wonderful students together, creating our reading list, and being a wonderful professor.
Funded by The New School with a summer grant, Chronosong was the culmination of a months-long reading group throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. The participants read and discussed poetry dealing with the passage of time and it’s intersections with class, race, and queerness. This writing was the culmination of those discussions, each documenting their quarantine in unique ways. Using poetry, prose, and visual art you can explore the way these stories weave together in similar ways, despite being spread across the country from one another.
Chronosong was my first real project in testing my InDesign skills. Blending all of our work together without looking too corny was a bit of a challenge, especially due to the integration of images. We didn’t want to make it too long, but also didn’t feel the need to note each time our voice changed. Rendering with InDesign was super fun, and letting the text speak for itself aided in the final project. Creating a cohesive layout with all of our separate works was a trial in itself, and I am so proud of our final collection!
